Approach
My approach to therapy is eclectic, trauma-informed, evidence-based, and compassion-focused. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and we will work together to find the best treatment modality to meet your needs. Some modalities, like EMDR, may feel more structured, while others may be more free-flowing and conversational. Together, we’ll explore all options to find the best fit for you.
I strive to create a welcoming and affirming space where you can be your most authentic self, feel safe to explore your trauma, and find validation in your experiences and emotions. I love to incorporate humor, authenticity, appropriate self-disclosure, and creativity into our work together. I encourage clients to bring in any mediums that help them express their emotions. For example, if you have a passage from a book, a scene from a show, a piece of artwork, or a song that resonates with what you’re feeling, please bring it to the session so we can explore it together
Modalities
-
EMDR is a therapeutic approach designed to help you heal from traumatic experiences. It's especially effective for those dealing with PTSD, anxiety, or difficult memories.
During sessions, you'll revisit these events while engaging in guided eye movements, which can reduce their emotional impact. This process taps into your brain's natural healing abilities, making the memories less distressing and allowing you to regain control over your life. -
Motivational interviewing is a conversational approach that helps you explore your feelings about making changes in your life. By focusing on what matters to you, it encourages open discussion and self-reflection, empowering you to take meaningful steps toward your goals.
-
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is based on the idea that we all have different parts within us, each with its own feelings and perspectives. This approach helps you connect with and understand these parts, fostering harmony and self-acceptance so you can navigate life's challenges with more ease.
-
Mindfulness is all about staying present and tuned in to your thoughts and feelings without judgment. It helps you build awareness and compassion for yourself, making it easier to navigate life's challenges and create a sense of calm and balance.
-
Relational work focuses on the connections and interactions you have with others, helping you understand how these relationships shape your feelings and behaviors. By exploring your patterns and building healthier connections, it supports you in creating more fulfilling and meaningful relationships in your life.
